1.About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and SGM Studios LTD (“we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16946095, VAT number GB512829886). Our registered office is Unit A, 82 James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Bury St. Edmunds, England, IP28 7DE.
They apply to the Teho launcher, Teho Client, tehoclient.com, the Teho Store, teho.pics, our hosting and server features, our help centre and our official community spaces (the “Services”). By installing or using the Services you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use them.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data; agreeing to these terms is not consent to optional data processing. Some features, such as the Store, show extra terms when you use them. Feature-specific terms apply to that feature where clearly disclosed before you agree to them. No additional term takes away a mandatory consumer right.
“Teho Client” is a registered UK trade mark of SGM Studios LTD (registration number UK00004449164).
Teho is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with Mojang AB or Microsoft. “Minecraft” is a trademark of Mojang AB.
2.Who can use Teho
You must be at least 13 years old, or older where local law requires it. If you are under 18, please read these terms with a parent or guardian. You will need their permission before buying anything, and any parental authorisation required by local law for the features you use. A Minecraft sign-in does not itself verify your age.
You must own a legitimate Minecraft: Java Edition account, and you must follow the Minecraft End User License Agreement, the Microsoft Services Agreement and the rules of any server you join. You can’t use Teho while a ban on your account remains in effect, or if the law prevents you from using it.
3.Your account
Your Teho account is linked to your Minecraft account. You sign in through Microsoft, and we never see your Microsoft password. You are responsible for keeping your Microsoft account and your device secure, and for anything done through your account. Tell us straight away at support@tehoclient.com if you think someone else has used it.
Your account is personal to you. Don’t sell, share, lend or transfer it, or anything attached to it.
4.Your licence to use Teho
As long as you follow these terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Services for your own entertainment.
Content creation is welcome. You can record, stream and share gameplay that uses Teho, including Teho’s interface and cosmetics as they appear while you play, and you can earn money from that content, for example through ads, sponsorships or donations. Please don’t extract or redistribute Teho’s files or artwork outside your gameplay, use our logos as your own branding, or suggest that we sponsor or endorse you unless we have agreed to it in writing.
Teho, including its software, design, artwork, cosmetics, names and logos, belongs to us or our licensors. “Teho Client” is a registered trade mark. You can mention our name to refer to Teho, for example in a video title, but please don’t use it in a way that suggests we made, sponsor or endorse something we didn’t. Apart from this licence, no other rights are given to you. Open-source components are covered by their own licences, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licences.
5.Rules of conduct
To keep Teho fair and safe, you agree not to:
- use Teho to cheat or to gain an unfair advantage, or break the rules of a server you play on;
- modify, decompile, reverse engineer, or get around the integrity, licensing or security features of Teho, except as far as the law expressly allows despite this restriction;
- distribute, resell or rehost Teho, or build or distribute modified or unofficial versions that pretend to be official;
- access our servers or APIs except through official Teho software or an SDK or integration we authorise, or scrape, flood or overload them;
- use our relay, world hosting or voice servers for anything other than playing Minecraft with people who have agreed to play with you;
- harass, threaten, bully, dox or impersonate anyone, or post hateful, sexual, violent, illegal or misleading content;
- share anyone else’s personal information, or try to find out other players’ IP addresses;
- send spam, scams, malware or phishing links;
- infringe anyone’s intellectual property or other rights; or
- help or encourage anyone else to do any of these things.
6.Chat, voice and social features
Teho lets you add friends, chat, call and play together. Standard chats are stored on our servers so they can reach friends who are offline, and so we can review messages that are reported to us. End-to-end encrypted chats can only be read by their members. We can’t read, moderate or recover them, and if you lose your encryption key, those messages are gone for good.
You can block players at any time, and report abuse or illegal content in standard chats, teho.pics and other content we host to support@tehoclient.com. Include the relevant account or content reference and details of the concern. We don’t accept reports about the contents of end-to-end encrypted chats, because we have no way to confirm those messages are genuine. If someone is bothering you there, block them. Report rights infringements to legal@sgm.sh. You can appeal a moderation decision by contacting support and explaining why you think it is wrong.
7.Content you share
You keep the rights you have in what you create and share through Teho: screenshots, worlds, profiles, messages and similar content (“your content”). You give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process, display and send your content only as needed to run the Services and show it to the people you chose. This includes using hosting and delivery providers for those purposes. A public teho.pics screenshot can be seen by anyone, and anyone with an unlisted link can open it. The licence ends when the content is deleted, except for limited retention needed for backups, legal obligations or resolving a dispute. Content other players already received may stay with them.
You promise that you have the right to share your content and that it follows these terms. We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law. If you think content on Teho infringes your rights, email legal@sgm.sh with the details and we will look into it promptly.
8.Hosting and joining worlds
When you host or share a world through Teho, you are responsible for the content and settings you control and who you let in. Direct connections can reveal your IP address to the other player. Friends-only joining follows your permissions; public world addresses and connection details you choose to share can be visible to others. Hosting and relay capacity is limited, and we may apply reasonable limits to protect the service, subject to any commitments we have agreed with you and your legal rights. Do not use these features to distribute illegal content, attack other systems or interfere with other users. Public world addresses must not be offensive, misleading or impersonate anyone.
9.Cosmetics, Teho+ and purchases
What you are buying. Cosmetics and other digital items are licensed to the Minecraft account you buy them for. Teho+ gives that account the benefits described for your selected plan for its duration. These items and benefits are not money, have no cash value and cannot be transferred, traded or sold. Some items are limited editions, and we will describe them accurately when they are on sale.
Free cosmetics. Some cosmetics, and some variants of a cosmetic, are free for everyone to use. Free cosmetics are licensed to your account in the same way as purchased ones, but we may change which free cosmetics are offered.
Prices and payment. Prices are shown in pounds sterling. Applicable taxes and the final total are shown before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe, and items are delivered to the Minecraft account shown at checkout after payment is confirmed. If a payment succeeds but delivery fails, contact support so we can deliver the items or refund you. If there is an obvious pricing error, we may cancel the order and refund you in full, subject to applicable consumer law.
Your right to cancel. UK consumers normally have 14 days to cancel an online digital-content purchase. At checkout, we ask for your express agreement to immediate delivery and your acknowledgement that you will lose that cancellation right once delivery starts. We must also give you the required contract confirmation on a durable medium, such as email. If you do not agree, you can leave checkout without paying. If the legal requirements for losing the cancellation right are not met, your applicable cancellation rights remain.
To cancel where that right applies, send a clear statement to support@tehoclient.com or our registered office identifying your order and account. You may use this wording, but do not have to: “I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for [item], ordered on [date], order reference [reference], Minecraft account [account], consumer name and address [details], date [date].” Add your signature if sending it on paper. Where a statutory cancellation refund is due, we will make it within the legally required period, normally 14 days after being informed, using the same payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise. A valid statutory cancellation is not conditional on our approval.
If something is wrong. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If an item is faulty or doesn’t arrive, contact support@tehoclient.com. We will fix or replace it, and if we can’t, we will refund you in full or in part. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.
Teho+ one-time purchases. You can buy Teho+ for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year with a single payment. These purchases last for the selected period and do not renew automatically.
Teho+ subscriptions. You can instead choose a discounted subscription that renews automatically every 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year until cancelled. The total charged for each billing period, the renewal date and the discount compared with the equivalent one-time purchase are shown before you sign up. You can cancel future renewals online at any time using the cancellation option provided with your subscription, or contact support@tehoclient.com for help. You keep paid benefits until the end of the period you have paid for. Agreeing to these terms alone does not authorise recurring charges.
Seven-day free trial. Eligible users can try the monthly Teho+ subscription free for 7 days. The eligibility conditions, trial end date, first payment date and price after the trial are shown before you sign up. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it becomes a paid monthly subscription and renews each month at the disclosed price. We will remind you before the trial ends. Cancelling before it ends avoids the first subscription charge.
Teho+ cancellation rights. Cancelling future renewals is separate from any statutory right to cancel and receive a refund. UK consumers normally have a 14-day cancellation period from entering the contract; the 7-day trial does not replace it. You also keep any additional cancellation or refund rights that apply after a trial or renewal. The immediate-delivery acknowledgement for digital items does not by itself remove your rights relating to an ongoing service. Any lawful charge for service supplied at your express request during a cancellation period must be explained before you sign up.
Chargebacks. If you have a problem with a purchase, please contact us first. We may suspend items bought with a payment that is later reversed or found to be fraudulent.
If we stop selling an item. When we stop selling a cosmetic, including limited-edition items, accounts that already own it keep it. Ending a sale doesn’t take anything away from people who bought it.
If we update a cosmetic’s design. We may remaster existing cosmetics, for example when we refresh Teho’s overall style. If we change the look of a cosmetic you own, you will be able to switch back to its original style.
If we discontinue an item or Teho closes. We will give you reasonable notice. If we withdraw a feature you paid for within 12 months of buying it, for reasons other than a breach of these terms, we will offer a fair refund or, if you agree, an equivalent item. The 12-month promise does not limit any statutory remedy available after that period.
10.Third-party servers, mods and services
Teho can connect you to Minecraft servers, mods, content and websites that we do not run, such as servers in the server browser or mods from Modrinth. They are provided by their owners under their own terms, and we are not responsible for them. A server appearing as “partnered” or “sponsored” does not mean we vouch for how it is run.
11.Updates and availability
We update Teho regularly. Some updates install automatically because they are needed for security, compatibility or fair play. Features may change. We aim to keep the Services available, but we can’t promise they will always be uninterrupted or error-free. If we make a change that significantly harms your use of something you paid for, section 9 applies.
12.Suspension and ending these terms
You can stop using Teho at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing legal@sgm.sh.
If you break these terms, we may warn you, remove content, restrict features, or suspend or ban your account. Our response will be proportionate to what happened. In serious cases, such as cheating, fraud, abuse of other players, or attacks on our systems, we may act immediately. We will normally tell you why. If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal by emailing support@tehoclient.com. A ban may restrict access to items attached to the account; it does not automatically remove your statutory refund rights or let us retain a payment where the law requires a refund.
We may also stop providing the Services, or part of them, with reasonable notice. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as 7, 13, 14 and 16, continue after these terms end.
13.Our responsibility to you
We provide the Services with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
If digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content, and this happens because we didn’t use reasonable care and skill, we will either repair the damage or compensate you. We are not responsible for damage you could have avoided by following our advice to install an update free of charge, or by meeting the minimum system requirements we tell you about.
We are only responsible for loss or damage that was foreseeable when you started using the Services. We are also not responsible for things outside our reasonable control, or for Minecraft servers, mods and services run by others, subject to your statutory rights and liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Teho is primarily intended for personal entertainment, although you may create and monetise gameplay content as described in section 4. We do not guarantee that Teho will meet any particular business or commercial requirements. Subject to your statutory rights and liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded, we are not responsible for business losses arising from your use of the Services.
Except for the liabilities we can’t limit, our total liability to you is capped at whichever is greater: the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £100. This cap does not limit statutory remedies or compensation that applicable law does not allow us to limit.
14.Complaints and the law that applies
If you have a complaint, please contact support@tehoclient.com first. Most issues can be sorted out quickly.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to the mandatory laws that protect you where you live. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring them in your local courts. If your local law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your home courts, that right remains. Choosing English law does not remove mandatory privacy or consumer rights in any country where we offer Teho.
15.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the Services or the law. The effective date at the top always shows the current version. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the launcher or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless it is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you don’t agree to the new terms, you can stop using Teho and, where section 9 applies, ask for a refund.
16.General
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, for example if the business is sold. Your rights will not be reduced as a result. You may not transfer yours.
- If a court decides part of these terms is invalid, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- Nobody other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
- These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any feature-specific terms, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Services.
